Small 'spots' on new projection screen

Mar 6, 2005 4:45AM PST

Just curious to see if anyone out there can diagnose this.. I just got a new Toshiba Cinema 52HMX94 (GREAT TV, by the way!). So far, the TV has been incredible, performed flawlessly, etc. However, on arrival, I did notice what first looked like 3 small fingerprints (only noticeable in very light scenes, with no motion). After trying to clean it, I realized they were not fingerprints, and that it was on the inside. I don't know if this is what you would call 'dead pixels', because these spots are barely noticeable, and still project images and color (just 'dull spots'). Could it be.. fingerprints on the inside? Dead pixels? Some other phenomena I'm not familiar with? It's not noticeable enough for me to worry about calling a technician, but I may decide to in the future. Just wondering what others can tell me about this. Thanks!

I'm not kidding. Such complaints are best lodged within hours of delivery so you have both legs to stand on when it becomes something you can't stand...

Who to call first?

Okay

I have the standard/manufacturer's warranty, plus a 5-year extended warrant from ABC Warehouse. Do I call ABC Warehouse first? Or, is the extended warranty consecutive to the manufacturer's warranty (call Toshiba first?)

I'm still within the 30-days from the date of purchase.. still got the store return policy behind me, too, I would think.. only had it about 2-3 weeks.

Ouch....

I would call anyone to lodge the complaint PLUS get the phone numbers on record who to call in case of machine failures.

Do this before ABC Warehouse vanishes.

Don't worry, ABC Warehouse has been in business around here for a long time, so they won't 'disappear'.. it's a store, not an online vendor. Plus, the salesperson is a friend of a friend, so he'll take care of it if I call him. Really just wanted to know if anyone recognized the sympotms, or not.
