small speaker set-up help

Jul 13, 2009 4:14AM PDT

I have the pio 1019, pani tcp42x1, and def-tec pro 600 with time warner hd box. It's in a small 10x10 room, (approx). I have wired the front left & right to the sub w/out the coax sub cable, the video is running through the 1019 via HDMI to DVI w/DVI to HDMI adaptor with the audio being optical from 1019 to pani. I think I just need another HDMI cable to get rid of the adaptor & optical. My dvd player is a samsung p8 up-cnvt, but is not connected. The rear spkrs are not yet rear because I ran out of wire. So far it sounds good, being that I have never had anything this nice b4. I still haven't used the microphone to (calibrate?) the spkrs yet. I would like to know what else I should get as far as banana plugs, specific wire, mounts, and a sub cable? And what am I doing right/wrong, should I change things around? I'm new to A/V, excuse my long message.

The speakers are the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600's(def-tec 600). Sorry I did not put the full name. Home Depot? So speaker wire is just speaker wire? The Definitive Tech website suggests to use a better quality wire, but there is no way I'm spending that much on monster or kimbe kable. I was going to order acoustic research because it is white, which would hide better on the wall. But my main question is about the microphone attachment. Is that necessary to get the proper sound?

If you want the process more 'automated'...

...and also want the sound to be more balanced, yes. Definitely use the mic.
