3) What computer hardware (manufacturer and model number)?
4) How much available hard drive space is there on the computer?
5) What is you plan for a video editor?
6) What is your plan for video playback?
7) What is your plan for sharing the video - and do the folks with whom you plan to share have the infrastructure to support this playback?
Where are you planning to store the video so it can be watched in 10 or 20 years?
There may be more... Though at the moment, the Canon HF S200 is worth a look... add video light, tripod or other steadying device, case, high capacity rechargeable battery from Canon, a tele lens and maybe a wide angle lens, maybe a mic or two and a couple of large flash memory cards and Canon DW100 (or Sony VRDMC6) DVD recorder...
