My computer is running like it has a bunch of tracking cookies on it. I'm running AVG free and use adaware. There doesn't seem to be malware on it. My mailbox and many things I do are on yahoo. It almost seems like it only happens on Yahoo, but I'm always on Yahoo. Sometimes, you could almost take a nap between screens (like a slow dial up connection).
The only changes I have made that I'm aware of is the wireless. I added a d-link wireless router (dir 615) to my computer. I've networked another computer to it for internet access. I have ATT DSL, supposedly the fastest they have. (I had problems installing the router, d-link walked me through it and implied ATT was a problem.)
I was unable to ever get the netgear system to work that I bought about a year ago, but used the adapter (?) on the other computer. I don't see how the router would/should slow down my system although the other one is r-e-a-l-l-y slow as well.
I'm still running XP, service pack 2 (had problems getting the AMD update from HP), but have SP3 on the other one.
Any ideas on where to start? Could it be Yahoo? Is it possible that SP2 is conflicting with something? By the way, IE keeps on dying. I thought it was because I was stll running IE7, but upgraded it to IE8 and it still dies regularly - "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close".
Help! I don't know where to go from here.
