Slow typing response!

Mar 24, 2004 4:51AM PST

When I start to type, the letters don't come up until I type at least three letters. It isn't the keyboard, because we bought a new one, and it still does the same thing! annoying! M.B.

Tell more about the context.
Mar 24, 2004 6:37AM PST

The autocomplete window in IE, mentioned by Bob, is a rather limited context.

In Word, or in Outlook if you use Word as a text editor, this might happen because with the first document Word has to open the spelling files. When this is done, it will keep up.

So where does it happen:
- after booting in MS-DOS
- MS-DOS window
- Notepad
- MS Word
- forms in Internet Explorer
- This answer box
- first screen of the day
- every cell in Excel
The possibilities are endless and the answers might point to a clue.

- Did you thoroughly check for spyware?
- What background processes are running (msconfig, startup tab)?

Hope this helps.

windynme2, It's very possible that your computer picked up a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker which can cause delayed typing problems especially in forms. Go to the link below and download the CWShredder. Close all open windows and run it.
