Time to try another phone.
So I have been running into this issue a lot lately. I use my mobile phone for a hotspot and connect my laptop to it. I have a 15gb limit that i constantly keep track of, and I know when i go over that limit and when I don't, so going over is not the issue.
When I go into the settings of my mobile hotspot on my phone, i have an option to use 5ghz when available, this is sort of a temporary fix for the issue I have, I don't really know anything about the different frequencies or whatever they are.
I use to use my mobile hotspot all the time without the 5ghz option selected and didn't have issues for the longest time. So recently if I don't use the 5ghz option, my wifi speeds on my laptop are basically nonexistent, runs at a consistent .30 Mbs, then when i use my 5ghz i get anything from 30-50.
Ive tried calling verizon and going through all their troubleshooting and they have done all kinds of resets with my network, and have had me reset just about everything on my phone, including a factory reset. Nothing worked until they had me do a factory reset, which for about 2 hours after i did that it worked on the normal 2.4ghz just fine, and was getting 30-50 mbs, then the next time i used my mobile hotspot it went back to the slow speeds and me having to use the 5ghz option.
I don't know if this is related or anything but it seems that my laptop will just randomly disconnect from my mobile hotspot connection without any error or message, i feel like this started happening after using the 5ghz option, but I can't for sure say they correlate or are connected.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this or has potential fixes.
As far as from verizon's standpoint, I have told them about the issue and then they said it the problem continues after a factory reset they can go about replacing the phone, but im also wondering if this is even a issue with the phone or something with my laptop or some other problem.
Also I never have any other issues connecting to wifi connections on my laptop, only on my mobile cell phone hotspot.
thanks for the help
edit: I feel like i should also mention, when I am having issues with slow speeds on my laptop from the mobile hotspot, my actual phone connection has no speed issues, it will give me a .30mbs on laptop with the 2.4ghz connection, meanwhile my phone will speed test at 30-50+.
