I have a Gateway Media Center computer. It is running Windows XP Professional media center. It has the Pentium 4 2.6 ghz processor, 512 mbs memory and 80 gb hard drive. I have had this computer for almost a year. This computer has always taken an extremely long time to shut down, up to three minutes. I have uninstalled Norton Ghost thinking that this is the culprit.. no change. I know that XP runs a lot of services in the background so I uninstalled the programs that I don't use much. I still have 36 processes running all of the time. I have contacted
Gateway multiple times to try to get this problem solved. No help. The computer runs okay other than the extremely slow shut down. I couldn't find the answer with Microsoft either.
I appreciate any help that I can get,
