I would consider an Archive and Install using the CD's that came with the machine.
Boot from those disks and under options, choose Archive and Install. Do NOT choose Format and Install.
Archive and install will save your data and return your machine to the state it was in when you opened the box. The only difference being, your data will still be there.
Your OS will be out of date, so do the software update but stop short of where you had the problems before.
Good luck

Hi,
Wondering if someone can help me. Mac has a number of problems since I downloaded the updates this week. I've got an Intel Macbook Pro.
Quicktime no longer has any sound (I checked the midi section from a previous post and I can't do anything in the output section
I"ve got 24meg wireless internet, but web pages load much more slowly in both Safari and Firefox.
iTunes and Front Row tend to quit unexpectedly.
Is there any way of fixing these, or can I uninstall the updates? Any help would be grately received!
Thanks,
Michael
