30kbs=30 kilo/bits/second
4kBs=4 kilo/bytes/second
Bits and Bytes are techno-weenie stuff,,,don't go there.
The phone line was designed to be used by a phone/voice you are trying to use it for data,,,big difference.
If your more then a few miles from your Telco office or your line is a little noisy your phone may work fine but your modem will take a dim view of that.
You can "ask Telco" to check the line.
You can check your modem makers site for new drivers.
You can try a different modem.
Bottom line your at the mercy of the line length and quality.
is there any way to speed up my download because it says im conncted to the internet at 30kbs but when i try to download somthing it downloads at like 4kbs is there any way to increase my speed it would be very helpfull.
