Experiencing slow download speeds on my wireless home laptop. Laptop is Acer Aspire 3630, Celeron M Processor 1.6Ghz, 512MB DDR, 802.11b/g wireless lan. And have a linksys 2.4Ghz wireless broadband router.

Any reccommended solutions?

ok, your internet connection speed is very very fast

what web browser are you using?
if you aren't using Firefox, thats probably part of the problem. IE is too slow to be usable.

is your computer fast in basic functions- word processing, programs, startup, etc. If not, your computer might be infected with something...

is the hdd light always on? If so, that might be part of the reason why webpages take forever to load up.

have you defragged recently?

Since you didn't tell us.

In reality you'll never get advertised speeds.

Slow download speed can be a number of things.
Listed in no particular order:

Maybe someone is stealing your bandwidth.

Maybe you have adware and spyware and all that other internet goodies that we can't seem to live without.

Maybe the website you are downloading from is experiencing higher then usual traffic.

Maybe the website you are downloading from just moved to a server in another country.

Maybe you have an defective router, like getting near retirement age.

Maybe your ISP is doing maintainence on their servers.

Maybe your computer is striking, or router is striking.

Not all items on this list are to be taken 100% seriously.
