Question

Slow connection w Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapt

Dec 5, 2015 3:40AM PST

I have HP Pavilion laptop w a Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter network card/driver. My wifi router is a Jensen AirLink 7000 AC. I subscribe to a 200/20 Mbits/s connection from my internet provider. The problem is I only get about 80/20 Mbits/s on my HP laptop. The speed is the same both through the wireless router and when I plug the cord directly to the card on my laptop. I have tested the connection on a different laptop (a Dell Latitude E7440), and the speed is 203/20 through the router. My conclusion from these tests is that it's the Realtek network card in my HP that slows things down. I have updated to the latest drivers. Are there any settings I can change to solve the problem? Or do I need a new network card? Or maybe a new computer Happy
Any help will be most appreciated.

Did you research WiFi speeds?

For example 802.11g is usually 54 megabits so you got quite a bit more than that. in fact the number is spot on for say 802.11n in 20MHz OFDM (mode.)

The other laptop might have an 802.11ac card or was able to negotiate 802.11n 40MHz OFDM.

So, my call is nothing is broken with the laptop.
