1. When troubleshooting Internet Explorer 6.0 problems, it is suggested that third-party Tool Bands and Browser Helper Objects which have been installed be disabled, [Q298931].
Note: A Browser Helper Object is loaded when the main window of the browser is about to be displayed and is unloaded when that window is destroyed. If you open more copies of the browser window, more instances of the BHO will be created. For example, it gets loaded even if you simply want to see only a specific HTML page or a given folder. If you set the "Open each folder in its own window" folder setting, the BHO will load each time you open a folder.
2. Connection and page problems with IE6.0 is outlined in [Q241344].

Just got online with Cable modem this past week.
Modem is ARRIS Touchstone CM450 cable modem. Using Win XP home. Zone Alarm v 4.5.530.000. MOZILLA 1.5.
When using 56k connection, connecting to CNET was always slow. Slower than just about any site on the web.
Using same Zone Alarm when on 56k modem.
Now, on Cable, SOMETIMES, CNET forum connects almost instantaneous. Other times, during same session, me not making any changes, just going from one thread to next on the forum, it will TIME OUT, and all I get is blank screen with message, "Unable to make connection and that it has Timed Out". This is happening more frequently than the fast connections. Frequently, it will take 30 seconds or more to change when I click NEXT MESSAGE.
When changing to next message and it TIMES OUT, I found the fastest way to get back on CNET was to go to BOOKMARKS, and click on CNET. Usually it will pop right up?!?!???
What could cause this problem with CNET forum? Other sites load pretty fast, much faster than 56k modem.
Cable operator blames it on Zone Alarm, but I turned ZA off and still got a ?TIMED OUT? message on one try, so I turned ZA back on.
Just did virus scan using Norton 2003 AV, latest updates, no virus detected. Did AD-AWARE and SPYBOT check, nothing found there.
Thanks
Ben
