Question

Slow computer startup after crash

Mar 31, 2018 6:12PM PDT

So I have this weird issue, my PC all of a sudden crashed (no error or anything at all, just immediately shut down in a split second) and since then instead of the usual 10 second startup it takes about 15 minutes instead, specifically being stuck on this screen. The issue is that I'm absolutely clueless on how to identify the problem, I've tried a dozen suggestions I've found online and I assume that it's a hardware issue as I even did a clean install of windows. Based on the following images I assume there isn't an issue with my SSD which would be the most likely cause, (link). Don't really know how to test if there's an issue with my ram-gpu-cpu-psu-motherboard or whatever else, also there doesn't really seem to be an apparent problem after the startup is over.

What else is in the PC?

I've seen hangs like this when USB things are plugged in. Unplug those and make it smaller.

almost worked?

So I don't understand how this could be related as the issue only started appearing after the crash but I gave it a shot anyway and now the issue seems even weirder. This whole thing started couple weeks ago and I didn't have a single fast startup since then, so I removed 2 external drivers I had connected via usb + keyboard + mouse as you suggested and the startup took 10seconds again. Then I put the keyboard+mouse only back in and the loading time was long again, removed them again but this time the issue wasn't fixed.

Edit:Okay now I really got no idea what's going but I plugged everything off again and the issue was fixed once again, then I even plugged everything back in and managed to do 4 restarts without any issue so for now I'll consider the problem fixed.

It's a common problem.

Something you learn to look for. Sorry if a long explanation wasn't give but the short version is "Microsoft."
