Resolved Question

Slow Computer/Conflicting Programs

A moderator from the Computer Help forum referred me here. My wireless network has on it two laptop computers. The host computer is less of a problem, running Win 7 64-bit, IE9 and security programs SUPERAntiSpy, Malwarebytes, Spyware Blaster and McAfee Total Care. On both computers I uninstalled Spybot. The older one could stand some troubleshooting because it is slow and may have conflicting programs taking up resources. There was some improvement having just installed IE8. It runs XP-Pro, and has security programs Spyware Blaster, SUPERAntiSpy, Malwarebytes, Online Armor and Avira. The processor speed is 1.66 GHz. There is 2.49 RAM and 54.7 hard drive free space.

I saw this and thought to post but I also saw your other discussion here;
http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-541364.html

Since you have so much more information there i have intruded into that discussion with comments and questions. I hope you don't mind continuing there.

Besides, I am not really convinced that this is a 'malware matter' at this stage.

I will lock this much smaller thread so we don't all get confused or post duplicating material.

Thanks Gentlemen

I think we have things under control as long as others can access the posts who may have similar problems. This is almost like eating the wrong thing and having to go to a GI specialist.
