Slow Computer

Nov 12, 2004 6:01AM PST

Okay so I know that "SLOW COMPUTER" could mean anything so here is the breakdown:
-Ran a virus scan (Norton)
-Updated virus definitions, and ran scan again (Norton)
-Ad-Aware SE personal (updated and run)
-Defrag and Disk cleanup (restarted)
-cleared history, deleted cookies, and unused files in Internet explorer.

The computer is an HP desktop that has a 120 GB harddrive (89GB left) 1 Ghz of ram and it is STILL SLOW! - after ALL that
It is running XP home and the only other thing I can think of is installing service pack 2.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
Thanks!!

no we didn't defrag after sp2, but it is running "somewhat" better than before, although now the mouse is blinking an hour glass continously with nothing running.

we will try defragging again.
