sliughtly stupid question re: software compatibility

Oct 18, 2004 1:28PM PDT

so if I buy software from someone in england, assuming it's a PC version and not mac, will it run on my amnerican PC? or are there any compatibility issues between countries ?

I tend to think that, despite different wall outlet voltages, all PC's the world over run on the same types of power supplies, but I don't know for sure so i thought it was worth asking about! - fj

SHOULD be fine...

(I capitalize the SHOULD because you never know what PCs will do to your day...)

Anyway, I'm a misplaced American living in Japan. I use the Japanese version of XP and have many English programs on it, from the U.S., U.K., and Australia. No problems at all, except for Microsoft programs which want to remain the same language as the OS.

As long as it's a separate, self-contained program, you SHOULD have no problems. You may have to get used to British spellings, however!
