Slave flash with Dimage A2

Jul 1, 2005 2:07PM PDT

I'm trying to use a slave flash with the Dimage A2 that triggers from the A2 on camera flash. I can get the slave to fire, but am unable to get a properly exposed image. They are always too dark. I'm working in Manual mode for exposure. Manual Flash Control for flash and have used both Fill Flash and Rear Flash Modes with the same result.

I'm using a slave that worked perfectly with my Fuji FinePix S602. And have tried those settings in the same studio set up with the A2. That should have eliminated synch and exposure issues.

Do I have to go the PC route for 1 of the flashes? What settings am I missing? Any help is appreciated.

TIA

Slave flash problem solved.

Thanks for those links.

The A2 can trigger external flash units. They don't have to be designed for digital use. One must use Manual and Fill (at least I used Fill).

If you want the lighting to be only from the slaved lights, you can dial down the power of the on camera flash. I had used the technique for table top setupps with the Finepix (no PC synch), but had difficulty with the A2.

The combination of the A2 plus their remote capture software is kind of like having a digital 4X5 without the swings and tilts (except afterwards in Photoshop).

Thanks again.
