Skype will not start. Error: Exception EAccess Violation...

by mropion / October 31, 2010 8:02 PM PDT

I cannot start Skype anymore (whichever the version) but receive an error instead:
"Exception EAccessViolation in module Skype.exe at 0002E016.
Access violation at address 0042E016 in module 'Skype.exe'. Read of address 00000000."
I run Windows Vista Home Edition SP2 and have disabled my Avast Firewall before loading Skype program.
Do you know how to fix that problem? Thanking you in advance.

Dear mropion: I had the same problem. I fixed it by downloading the latest drivers for my external webcam. -- hope that helps.
