skype

I had trouble signing in to Skype a few weeks ago. Finally, created a new user name and psw. I was able to connect until a couple of days ago. Got this message on my screen:

Skype.app can't be opened because it is from an unidentifed developer.
Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.

Don't know what the next step should be.

I suspect that you did actually install Skype but rather are running it directly from the disc image that you downloaded.

Once you have installed it correctly, that error message will not appear again

Look at the Settings application. Under Security & Privacy you will see "Allow apps downloaded from:" Make sure the second button is clicked or you will have this problem. I just undated to Yosemite and the first button was clicked.
