Size of files grew

I was editing my music files and now I have wav files that are 11MB and mp3 files that are up to 20MB. I was using audacity and goldwave. When I play them with any player it shows the correct time but when I try to burn them there is about 4 minutes of empty space.
I sure would appreciate any help.
