Question

single wireless bridge or dual client bridge - wifi setup

Aug 12, 2016 3:51AM PDT

Hi there,
I'm setting up a ≈100m wireless connection from another house to mine. I have an N300 router available and the possibility of getting a second low-end router. My question is: would it be best to use the N300 router in wireless bridge mode alone, or have it run client bridge connected via ethernet to a second router which sets up the wifi in my house?
Thanks!

Answer
You'll have to test it out.

My office will never deploy a WiFi bridge since we never found them to be stable enough. On top of that you are at the outer limits of WiFi.

You'll have to test it out and see if it will do for your needs.

Single Wireless Bridge

I'm more concerned is your house has a clear line of sight with the N300. Maybe you should consider buying a CPE outdoor AP just to make sure. Put it outside your house and bridge wirelessly to the N300. If the signal is weak then you should connect an outdoor antenna to the N300. Directional antenna with formidable dbi should do the trick. On crowded city like in Jakarta I had use 15dbi antenna for that range.

Hope this helps.
