Question

My computer keeps freezing (more details added)

Apr 23, 2018 10:45PM PDT

I am unable to move files, either by drag n drop or copy / paste.

The computer freezes completely, and usually will not come back on.

please help!

Sorry, I was upset when I wrote this, and didn't think to give for details.

My PC is old. I got it back in 2012.
It's exact model is ...
HP Pavilion p6-2103wb, and it runs Windows 10.

When I try to move files by dragging and dropping them into another folder, or copy and paste, they will not move.
Yes, I have tried to do this onto an external hard drive.

It freezes when I try to do almost anything. I clicked into Ccleaner, and before it even opened it froze completely to where even the clock wouldn't change. If I manually shut it down, it takes forever to come back on. It stays on a solid black screen, sometimes for hours.

It has shut itself down twice where I got a message, something about the pc has run into a problem, and needs to reset.
After that, a black screen with white texts came up, and said that it couldn't boot the drive, and it froze on that screen. So, I shut it down, and it came back on.

Sorry for the confusing. I know very little about computers.

- What exactly is constantly? It's constantly, or only when you copy a file to the clipboard (ctrl-c) or only when you paste (ctrl-v)? And when you paste to a USB-stick in stead of the hard disk? Or also when doing other things?
- What exactly is "will not come back on"? It freezes, you press the power button to turn it off, then again to to turn it on. What happens?
- What computer, how old, what OS?

Based on a lot of totally unfounded assumptions, my advice it to run the makers hard disk diagnostics.
