Sims like game for pre-teen girl?

My 8 year old daughter loves the Sims game she played with an older cousin, but we do not some of the themes that can come across in it. I'd like to find a PC game very similar to Sims that is more appropriate for a pre-teen girl, but cannot seem to find something that is appropriate, similar with real-life, "cool" people & that is not too babyish (Strawberry Shortcake will not cut it anymore, LOL)

Any ideas?
