Simple Problem

Mac iBook G4/Power PC/OSX 10.4.11

Hi everybody,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a pretty simple problem. I'll try to be concise in the explanation. A while ago, I had a problem with not enough disk space, so I got the suggestion from someone here to create a new user to see if the problem persisted. I fixed that problem, deleted the new user, but a residual change happened. Since then, when I turn on the computer, I have to give my administrative password, whereas prior to the new user all I did was turn it on, no password needed. How do I get back to not needing the password when I log on? Thanks in advance for any help.

it's the answers that may become difficult.

In your case, assuming you are an administrator on that machine, you need to go to System Preferences/Accounts, single click on your account and set the Automatic login to your name.

You will probably have to authenticate the change (unlock the window) but after that, it should log you on automatically when you reboot.
