Simple DVD burner?

Jun 24, 2005 9:07AM PDT

Windows XP Pro/Pinnacle Studio 9+

I am just getting into DV editing. I have the latest Nero DVD burning software (came with both burners). I do not find it particularly user-friendly (although with help on DVD burning forums I have been able to burn a project).

Anyone have a simple, easy-to-use, "follow the wizard" DVD burning software they can recommend? I really want simple, simple, simple. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks in advance.

Simple DVD creation software
Jun 24, 2005 4:15PM PDT

Hello,

I also have Nero and Pinnacle Studio 9. I am just about finished with my ebook, "How To Build a Home Theater PC" which will go into detail on how to use these products plus other for creating dvds.

However, you asked if there is an easier piece of software to use for editing and dvd creation. I am happy to say, YES. Pinnacle is an excellent program with lots of features and sometimes too many features. When you want simplicity I would HIGHLY recommend either Uleads DVD Movie Factory (2 or 3) and/or Video Studio (7 or Cool. Video Studio allows you to extract video easily and then add some special effects, titles etc.. Afterwords you can output your video to DVD or any file format you wish. That said, I usually use DVD Movie Factory for creating the DVD and Video Studio for quick simple editing. Don't let the ease of use be confused with lack of features and capabilities.

I have used Nero and Pinnacle Studio 9, but generally like to use these when I want to create a more intermediate product.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I like Pinnacle

It is Nero that is the problem. Looking for a simple DVD burning software.

Thanks for your advice.

Pinnacle is great.

Hi Marie,

If Pinnacle is not the issue, than try outputting your video as a DVD compatible file. Don't worry about inserting chapters and menus.

Then, use DVD Movie Factory to take your newly created file and burn a DVD. Here you will be asked to create menus and chapters, and/or any other effects you might like before burning the DVD.

Go to http://www.ulead.com/dmf/trial.htm to download the trial software of DVD Movie Factory 4. The full retail price is $99, but you can find it cheaper other places. I highly recommend using trial software before buying. This allows you to feel it out and see if it is right for you.

You can also try Adobe's DVD Encore. I am not as familiar with this software. DVD Movie Factory 3 came free with a DVD burner I purchased, I used it and have come to like the interface, as well as, the ease of use.

I hope this has answered your question. If you have any other questions let us or me know.
