Similar networking question with skype

May 24, 2005 1:13AM PDT

I had a very basic home network (1 desktop, 1 laptop both XP connected by crossover cable) for the purpose of ICS. ICS worked fine, i couldnt manage to share files- the desktop (host) didnt appear in the workgroup- but I didn't really care as I just wanted the ICS. Last month the laptop's HD died. After putting in new one, reinstalling all drivers etc... ,and rerunning the network wizards, ICS doesn't work anymore. Host is still fine, but client gets nada. I still can't see the desktop in the workgroup, but the hardware is all fine. I can ping back and forth just like before. The only thing I can think of is that while waiting for the new HD, I installed Skype on the desktop. Could that be the problem? If so, what to do?
