all you need is an antenna, nothing special (even rabbit ears will do sometime).
As for the cable box (hi-def box), the answer is yes but I believe their is a $5 monthly feed for the remote, hehe; it just sound so funny to me. Of course with this box, you won't need an antenna. But talk to them and see what they say. Different area might be different.
okay so I am so sick of paying $70 cable bills. It is ridiculous. I am moving and my satellite will not work in my new location so I was getting ready to sign up with comcast and the prices are astronomical. I cancelled my order and really have no other options.
Here is my question,
I know the digital conversion just happened a few months ago which should not affect me because I have an HDTV. So do I need cable for regular channels to come through? Do I need some special type of antenna? Also would local channels available in HD automatically show up on HD or do I need to do something special?
Second part of question, comcast did offer me free basic cable if I buy internet service. this is standard not HD, but if my tv on it's own pull in the local channels in HD would the comcast box convert the signal to standard (instead of HD) since my tv is plugged in to it? essentially, what I am asking is would I need to turn my cable box off to tune into a local HD Channel (that is if my tv picks it up on its own.)?
Also, if I do forgo cable I'd like to purchase a dvr as I can't live without one now. If anyone can recommend a good brand that would be great.
