SigmaTel audio problems

Okay, so every few minutes or less, the sound skips and causes things to skip and lag. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, it does it. This also started relatively recently. Listening to songs is impossible because of this. It is also incredibly annoying. Any idea what is happening?

Without knowing more

No details of your system or what sound you are talking about, (music tracks on your system, online music, Operating System sounds), all I could offer is one symptom.

Listening to online music can be affected by a slow internet connection, or if the internet bandwidth is being used for anything else.

128MB ATi Radeon X300 Video Card

Also, this happens with ANY sound whatsoever Oddly, it also happens even if the sound is muted.
