Question

Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC lens

Jul 20, 2011 11:53AM PDT

Has anyone here used this lens or knows anything about it?
I have a chance to pick this lens up for a work trade off. I figure it comes out to about $320.00.
The person said he has only had the lens for 4 months, really liked it, but is going to a Canon full frame camera and can't use it any longer. There is not a scratch on it and it looks almost new.
The online reviews look good, but would like to get a little more input before I do the trade off.

That link told me pretty much everything I needed to know.
My reason for looking at the lens is, I will be going back to visit my son in Virginia in Oct and will be going to Washington DC, many of the Civil War battle fields, museums and things like that. It would come in very handy not having to carry extra lenses.
I have a Sigma 17-70mm F/2.8- 4.5 that I have been using for about 4 years. The rap on that was softness also, but I have used it for weddings, family gatherings etc. and have gotten great results from it with very little if any problems with softness.
Thanks again for that link and after reading it, I am going to get that lens.
