Sify broadband - how does Satyam Fiasco affect them

Jan 10, 2009 3:21PM PST

I am a Sify broadband subscriber and was wondering if the company's services will be affected because of turmoil in the parent company Satyam Computers.

Difficult to say.

"The brothers who founded the outsourcing company Satyam Computer Services have been interrogated and jailed, and Srinivas Vadlamani, who resigned as chief financial officer in the wake of the huge fraud revelations, has been arrested."

That was from a News article here; http://business.theage.com.au/business/arrests-shake-satyam-20090111-7eem.html

I would say that it is not good news. Anything like this can affect business confidence in the parent company and all its subsidiaries. I see nothing mentioned about this in the Sify Broadband Forums though, http://www.indiabroadband.net/sify-broadband/

But only time will tell, and as I assume you are in India, you will most likely find out before the rest of the world.

Good luck. It's a difficult time.

corporate structure

Thanks for the response. I don't know the corporate structure for Sify, whether they are a different legal entity and just use the name 'Satyam' for branding or they were a 100% own subsidiary. I think I should start working on getting another broadband connection anyway Happy
