Sidekick 2 vs. Motorola A639

Jan 26, 2005 12:22AM PST

Can anyone give me advice on which one is better to get? I have just briefly fiddled with both and read a whole bunch about them. Is the sidekick awkwardly big to be carrying on your belt? How is it using the phone since you basically have to open to dial? As far as the Motorola, does it have less applications and features than the Sidekick? Is it more convenient because it's smaller? Does anyone have either of these phones or advice on one or the other? Thanks.

RE: Sidekick 2 vs. Motorola A639

I just got a moto a630 and the only bad thing about it is that I can't answer the call right a way. For example, the phone rings (I have it set to answer only with answer button) and it would not pick up the call for couple of seconds. Then I changed my setting to answer with any key and it seemed a bit faster if I press something else other than the answer button (green key). This is with the flap closed or opened.

Other than that the phone is awesome. It's really not for someone who doesn't use text msg. The internet isn't great if you are looking for that. Camera isn't very impressive but good enough to take pictures.

As far as the customization on the phone...you can use mp3 ringtones but you would have to crop the file first since the phone has about 5MB of space. All you have to do is invest in a bluetooth dongle or have a computer equiped with bluetooth and you can have all the sounds available. I can't load any games or app. through bluetooth. Pictures are easily sent through via blue tooth.

I give this phone a 8 out of 10. Kinda bulky but the key board is amazing when it comes to text msg. Speaker phone isn't a bad addition and calling is easy open or close.
