Always wondered about them.
OK, so I've just recently began my venture into digital photography (purely amateur) and printing. I bought a new Canon A-95 and went out taking a few pictures to try it out. I considered getting a printer specifically for the pictures but decided it would be more economical for me to do on-line (and I'd get better quality).
Anyway, I decided to give shutterfly a try... I uploaded about 25 pictures to have developed when I noticed that you could create gifts, one of which was a memory book... I thought that would be a nice gift for my wife for Valentines day... I uploaded tons of pictures from our wedding, reception, and the honeymoon and spent several hours perfecting the book.
The mistake I made was in adding the book to my cart before I finished it, just to check the shipping costs. I then went back and added in the honeymoon shots and edited some of the captions. When I went to check out I didn't realize that the cart was "static" and that my most recent version wasn't what I was buying... Anyway I'll cut to the point... I got the book today and was terribly upset when I noticed the book wasn't as I thought it would be. With a little thought I kinda figured out what had happened.
I e-mailed shutterfly and explained to them what had happened telling them that I thought I had made the mistake but wondered if they would help me out in getting the book I had wanted.
Within two hours I got a reply from shutterfy's customer service. They explained to me that my theory was correct about the "static" cart and told me ways to check and be certain of what I was purchasing. They also said, and I'll quote, "We do value your business & we do not want our customers to get
stuck with products they are unhappy about."
With that said, they gave me a credit for the photobook that I had wanted!!! I only need to pay for shipping!
I was speechless to say the least! I felt the least I could do was to pass along my experiences to others.
I had considered shopping around at different on-line printing companies but with a customer service like that I think I'll stick with shutterfly!!!
