Shutter delay, looking for a better camera

I want to upgrade to a better camera. Right not I have a Sony 3 megapixel camera, I forget the actual model. I'm really unsafisfied with the shot delay and low battery life. I'd like to spend about $300. Any recommendations?

Shutter Lag

Sony changed to a faster engine about two years ago and most of their cameras now have a shutter lag of 0.3 second. Which is better than the current average for all digital cameras.

You should look at the new Sony W50.
