Shuts down on startup

May 26, 2007 10:58AM PDT

Hi everyone,
Recently I have been experiencing a problem regarding my computer on startup. When I press the power button, the computer powers up but powers down after a sec. I know there is power flowing thorugh the system because the motherboard light is on. After several tries, the computer starts up normally. I just want to know what might be causing this to happen because its gettig really annoying. I hope you can help me, thanks!

HDD

I have had two computers do that to me when the hard disk drive is starting to go bad. If the disk drive is not new, you should probably back up the drive right away and consider changing it.

The bearing starts to go bad and draws enough current that it shuts down the power supply.
