Question

Shut down in win 10.

Sep 7, 2015 5:05AM PDT

It takes 3 minutes for my computer to shut down. It is often, but not always; takes some time with start. The message comes with it ,
" Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you".
It takes, best part of five minutes.
It always gives the source of the fault with reference to a website for explanation. Not that I could make any sense of it. This last time it said,"Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled. (NTFS.sys)
Any solution will be appreciated

NTFS.sys isn't a website, it's a driver. In fact, it's the driver for the file system on your hard disk. Quite essential for a working PC.

This error points to either:
a. A bad driver coming with your Wndows file system: reinstall from another copy.
b. A corrupted file system: run chkdsk (although that doesn't find all corruption)
c. An error on the hard disk. if chkdsk with surface check and the manufacturers diagnostics find nothing, replace it.
Anyway, exception should always be handled, so it can be considered a bug in the driver also. You've got to contact the maker (Microsoft) about their point of view.

Ir it's a different error another time, it points to bad RAM or a bad CPU. Run diagnostics, if you have (for RAM: download memtest86, free) or replace it.

Answer
I think I'd check for missing/corrupt system files.

Type CMD in the search box. Then right-click CMD and click Run as administrator. Then type SFC /scannow. That will run for a few minutes. If it finds a problem, it will attempt to repair it.
I'd also run Feedback and report the problem to MS.

I can tell you that what you're reporting is rare. I've been running 10 on two desktops since last October, and yours is the first report of this shutdown error I've seen. Sometimes when there've been Windows Updates, startup and shutdown can be slow, sometimes with no message, but that Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled error is not something I've seen before.
`
Good luck.

All wins.10 woes in short
Sep 14, 2015 6:28AM PDT

First of all I want to thank you gentlemen for help.
I checked all, CMD process , and all else. On top of that I have been in contact with the Answer Desk technicians for over a number of hours to solve the issue.
I am nowhere near satisfaction.
My CPU is fine, Memory is fine though I could not succeed with "memotest". because it was beyond me to complete the procedure.
CMD said that some corrupted file have been taken care of but there are some it could not put right. My test took 20 minutes, the Microsoft Technician did the same test ,it took over an hour, found the same result but she was satisfied.

Last night was again a session with the Answer Desk, a long one ,this technician took over control and checked everything.
This morning(in the UK) I switched on my computer, the message came on ,Your computer ran into a problem and we are getting info to correct it. "If you like to know more, you can search on online later." KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FALURE".
PC worked well up to coming to Welcome and my log on information. Then a blank screen (not blue) for many minutes, Only the mouse pointer showing on the screen.
I pressed Ctrl+ Shift key + Esc a couple of times and the PC woke up. I ran CClean, AntiMalwarebytes and nothing untoward was found.
I am using the same computer for this.
The PC took 2minutes and 45 seconds to shut down and using Edge there is a distinct lag of a split second which was never the case with my Windows 7.
I have no intention to go back to my previous windows and wish to persevere with Winds 10. I am a retired person use PC to keep in touch with the world. Not desperate as I do not need it for work. I have Apple MacBook an old one, A Samsung tablet and a smartphone to keep me in touch. However my PC is still important.
I hope you folks will come up with some solutions. All help is appreciated.

microsoft solution?

Sounds like a system corruption, especially when you see a kernel error, that's fairly serious. It could indicate something replaced the kernel with a bogus one, something infected the kernel, or a hard drive problem (bad sector) has caused kernel corruption. The good news is you can probably recover and backup your files from the drive first before reinstalling.

Shut down issue + others

I note the info on the link you suggested. It is all about Wins. 8.
I think it was not relevant to my case. I upgraded from Winds. 7 and have the System repair disk of Windows 7 .
I have two CDs of the same system image which backed up my C disk.
I think I need to reinstall the Winds 10 after cleaning the C disk clean of all.
I know I will have to reload drivers and the lot of all the devices after that.
I have two printers, music which I bought from the I Tune. But all these should be replaced. Please tell me how I should reinstall windows 10.
My system is Windows 10 64-bit. Intel Core i3-3220, CPU@ 3.30 GHz, 16.0 GB RAM, Nividia GeForce GT 610.
I know it seems a silly question. I unfortunately forget the procedures after performing them once. I need to start afresh . I shall be very grateful for helpful suggestions.

I don't see enough here to write what I'd swap out but there is ONE THING YOU MUST DO NOW.

Be sure you are able to survive a complete wipe of the HDD. The PC did warn you, just like Tim the Enchanter.
