Shut down computer

I have computer e-machine t5248, cpu athlon 64, 1gb memory, 150gb hdd. This computer make me headache, a few days ago shutting down couple minutes after turn on, but my concern is, that when hit f2 to get in to BIOS, stay on, like normal, not shut off never; but when I try install windows Xp pro, the computer let me get until windows begin to install hardware drivers, and then shut off, but when I format my hdd with spacial software stay on, and finish format, this process take 2 hours. I don't understand whats worng, I change memory, power supply, reset CPU, Bios, etc. PLease Help Me.

Next up. Put in new CPU heat sink compound.

About one dollar of material. Along the way you can clean and make such all parts are installed properly.

2 hours to format 160GB?

Did you try a new HDD? That long format could be a sign the HDD has failed.

thanks so much... the software tthat I use, is special for erase data from HDD, that's why, use many methods to format and take that long... But, yes already try new HDD. I hope somebody can help me,
