That does sound like a stuck key. At worse, it's less than 100 bucks for a new keyboard. Dell sells them.
If that doesn't fix it, then it's the motherboard and that's one pricey meatball.

Have had a sudden and strange problem with my Dell Inspiron 2100 running windows me. I was emailing a message when the notebook just "hung up "and started to emit this doorbell type of sound. I couldnt shut down the machine and had to resort to switching off the power, removing the battery and then re-booting. The sound re-started immediately and I was able to log into safe mode after several re-tries. I got an error message " stuck key (35) " Then, on hitting F1 to resume, I log in safe mode and thereafter the cursor gets replaced by the slash (/) key and i get a ticking sound both of which continue endlessly.
I was told something was shorting the keyboard or it could be a boot sector virus but could the problem lie elsewhere? I run windows me and my notebook is free of viruses (i run atleast 3 anti virus programs incl.avast)
Any and all advise is welcome
Thanks, S
