Question

Show Progress Hang Up Problem

by weaver15ny / February 25, 2012 5:55 AM PST

This problem has not been resolved after hours of phone and livechat with Verizon. I don't think they quite understand the issue. My hope runs high when I think that this forum will have the answer. I will try to be clear.

I have a new Wireless Custom built PC. Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, Outlook 2010, Office 2010.
The senior community I live in has installed Fios. In the process of changing from DSL to Fios Internet, glitches have occurred. One of those glitches was a sudden loss of my email service and according to the notice it was a password problem. Internet connection was okay. Email glitch was fixed. Immediately after that, the light blue spinning ring, the Wait icon that I changed from the classic Hourglass, was spinning, on 10 seconds, off 10 seconds right alongside the cursor arrow... even when I was doing nothing. All kinds of procedures were done, including a remote control with Verizon. So... I went again to the Send/Receive tab, clicked Show Progress. The information there is that there is a task waiting to be done... it says Email Sending... that has been there for at least a week. I am so convinced that that is the problem...an email for some reason maybe didn't get sent because my email service was down and got stuck. Nothing appears in my Outbox or anyplace else to indicate that...and when I try to research it, all I get is How to Delete from the Outbox. Too long a description here but I don't know how else to describe what's happening. Can you hear me weeping? I would truly appreciate any help at all that you can give me. Thankis!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
When outlook fails me I...
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / February 25, 2012 6:05 AM PST

When outlook fails me I head back to the web interface of my email provider until I have time to sort it out.

In your case since your community changed from DSL to Fios, it is too likely the settings for outlook changed. I have NO ACCESS to that information so I'm only able to give some advice.

Use the email provider's web interface until you find the settings needed for outlook.

Thank you for your response! It is a good suggestion. I just hope that Verizon etc can get it straightened out soon and that it hasn't left me with a damaged computer. Again, thanks!
