Question

should i wait for 8th gen Intel processor laptop

Hi,
If there is not much performance difference between 7th Gen Intel Processor based laptops (which are already in market) and 8th Gen Intel Processor based laptops (which will come in end of 2017) then i will purchase 7th Gen Intel Processor based laptops.

But if there is major performance difference then i will Waite

some where on internet i saw 8th gen may come with circular shape (may be it's just marketing strategy) but in real there is no such drastic performance difference between 7th and 8th gen that i don't know

My requirement is : watching movies (prefer 4k) from internet, Browsing, running Oracle Server
so which one i should choose :
Dual i5-xxxxU or quad i5xxxHQ or dual -7-xxxxU or quad i7-xxxxHQ

Display : prefer 4k if Up-scaling and down-scaling is not a problem with particular model

I don't want to go for Apple, they are too expensive compare to others

Unless there is a major breakthrough from now to then the 4K alone is a dead end.

If you want to watch 4K, get a 4K player. That's much cheaper as well as the usual Amazon Fire TV 4K version.

The complaints about 4K in current laptops explain it all so I won't add more.

1) can you please tell me if there is major difference or not between performance if we compare similer grad processor with both genration eg : Dual i5-xxxxU or quad i5xxxHQ or dual -7-xxxxU or quad i7-xxxxHQ ?

2) i heard quad core are little bit slower as cache provided by manufacturer are less compare to dual core eg with dual core i7-xxxx (4mb to 6mb cache are available) but with Quad core i7-xxxxHQ (6mb to 8mb) are provided by most of the laptop manufacturer.

can you suggest me if i want fast laptop then Quad or Dual ?

There are web pages diving into CPU architecture, benchmarks and more but for now 4K work at 60 frames per second is not showing up with current CPUs. A GPU looks to be needed to get that going.

The price is too high compared to a 4K Bluray player in my opinion. (or 4K Amazon FireTV and other small 4K players.)
