Should I Upgrade My iPhone 3G's Firmware

by jackfarrer / November 6, 2010 6:58 AM PDT

I've just been given my Uncles iPhone 3G, and it's currently at version 3.1 of the iPhone's firmware
I've heard some people have had problems with the upgrade to iOS 4 with the iPhone 3G, so I thought I'd be best to ask here:

1) Should I upgrade my iPhone 3G to 4.1 from 3.1?

2) Is 4.1 jail breakable yet?

Many thanks Happy - Jack

My experience . . .
by Coryphaeus / November 8, 2010 1:14 AM PST

When I went from 3.x to 4.0 my phone slowed down, locked up, and I didn't like it. When I went to 4.1 all problems solved.

3G iPhone still slow on iOS 4.1. Is iOS 4.2 any better?

My iPhone 3G was still slow & buggy on iOS 4.1 and I had a terrible experience trying to downgrade back to OS 3.1.3, losing several months' data in several apps. So I'm very nervous about updating to 4.2 (or 4.3 when it is released). Has anyone with a 3G installed 4.2? How well is it working?

I agree 4.0 is buggy but 4.1 is pretty stable for me

My opinion would be to upgrade if you need to...

And you'd need to look for Blackra1n to JB 3.1 on your 3G

I've not used anything pre 4.1 before since I got my 3GS late last year.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
