Should I upgrade from Norton Antivirus 2002 to NAV 2004?

Feb 26, 2004 7:25AM PST

My renewal subscription for Live Updates for the Anti-Virus Definitions for Norton Antivirus 2002 is due in 2 weeks for a yearly renewal fee of $20.00. This basically allows you to go to Norton's Web site and get your Virus Definitions updated to make sure that you have the most up to date Virus definitions for your computer.

My question is, should I upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2004, since this product retails on average for $25.00 and will include one year of Virus definitions?
Or should I just keep Norton Antivirus 2002 and renew my Virus definition updates for only $20.00?

I currently have Windows ME on a Dell Dimension 8100 computer with 40GB hard drive space.

Please Advise.
Thanks

Opinion!

Danny,

A lot has been written about problems with Norton Antivirus 2004. If you like Norton and wish to keep it I would prefer to pay the $20 reneual fee.

Many users have switched to other paid and free antivirus programs due to Norton software problems. I am one of these so this only my opinion. I am using AVG 6.0 Free version from www.grisoft.com and very pleased.

Wishing you the best,

Happy

Glenn

Hi Dan,

Upgrading your product is a great alternative to renewing your subscription service. You will receive the newest version of your Symantec product plus a one-year subscription service, which saves you up to 40 percent off the regular retail price. This will let you take advantage of new content updates with protection against the latest threats.

Upgrade to NAV 2004 or NAV 2004 Professional

Given the reviews of the 2004 release, I'd take the virus definition update and not the 2004 version. Of if they don't offer the definitions for your fairly trouble free version, jump ship.
