Before it's too late? I'm really suspicious of Vista, and nothing I've read really makes me feel like it's such a great thing. I've been thinking about getting a laptop for a while, so I can hook into my wireless network easier (old Win Me machine is awfully slow). Thought there would be clearance sales of XP laptops when Vista came out. Not so, but there are still XP machines out there. They seem to be more expensive than they were a few months ago, which makes no sense.
Should I run out and get one, or wait a few months, in which case there probably will be only Vista machines? All the inexpensive laptops I'm seeing (<$1000) have 512 memory, which everyone seems to agree is inadequate for Vista. Just last fall I was able to help my brother get a laptop w/ 1G memory and 80G hd for $700. Now, forget it.
Can you add a memory stick to a laptop easily? I've done it for a desktop.
