Should I hold out for an LCD?

Jul 31, 2005 1:21PM PDT

I want a new tv to replace my Philips 20PT6441 which has serious blooming distortion problems. I use it for gaming. I was originally going to buy another tube tv for around $200, and I went to Sears and bought Sony's KV20FS120 but returned it because of geometric distortion(its horizontal scan lines are curved). I'm aware of the prevalence of convergence and geometry problems among CRTs. I went through 7 tube tvs over the past year and each had some serious flaw (mostly geometry).

Should I hold out for an HD LCD TV(geometry problems will not show up), which will serve double duty displaying widescreen 720p and 4:3 480i/p sources, or should I try another tube?

I was considering saving up for samsung's LNR238W... since Microsoft is counting on them to advertise Xbox360 in retail kiosks. I guess ghosting and motion artifacts will not be too bad with this model...

Is anybody else really fed up with the crap tube tvs that are being pumped out by practically every tv manufacturer?
