Did you check into the PS?

From what I can find, it's a 240 watt external. That means it's extremely proprietary and thin on power. My bet is that a thousand bucks can do better than this. You didn't mention what you want to do with it, however, so it could be fine for email, web surfing and youtube.

Would you recommend cyberpowerpc? They have similarly priced desktops with the GTX 970 instead.
Sorry for all the questions

What I recommend to folks who ask me
May 6, 2015 7:03PM PDT

is a well researched custom build based on their needs in the near term. List what you want to do but don't think about 3-5 years from now. Buy all you can with the money you can budget rather than thinking about future upgrades in the same box. Speaking of the box...it doesn't need to look like a mean machine that can gobble up any monster in the universe. That's a bunch of unneeded crap. It doesn't need to have multicolored flashing lights. It's not there to look at. It's there to do something with that's useful to the person. Don't get caught up in fancy-schmancy names that sound cool. Functionality is important. Put good money into your monitor, keyboard and mouse. The things that you touch, see and feel are every bit as important as what's inside the box. Those are the things you personally interact with.

That's my recommendation. I can't address brand names or models as these are very transient and, by the time we know whether they're good or bad, have been replaced by something else. Good luck.

Just recently someone asked me about the 745 video which has DDR3 video RAM.

As the meme goes, "it was horrible."

You are overpaying for this with little hope of upgrades. In fact, none.

Newegg and Tiger Direct. They will give you guidance to pick components and you can either have them build it or build it yourself.

As far a Alienware. I only have a laptop and it like all high end gaming machines use high end components. My model was discontinued (18.4" model) so they only allow to the 800 series of Nvidia graphics cards. The 2015 models have the Nvidia 900 series graphics cards. The high end Nvidia cards are the 960,970 and 980. My laptop is upgradeable from the processor, graphics card, up to 4 hard drives if the optical is removed, 3 drive if you keep the optical. It has 1 MSATA, and 2 or 3 SATA connections. Mine cam with a 256 SSD MSATA boot drive which i upgraded to a Samsung 1 TB SSD. and a 1TB WD HD with one bay open.
