Should I buy the Panasonic TH-65PHD7UY?

Aug 3, 2005 9:49PM PDT

I am constructing a new home and would like to have the biggest and baddest audio/tv center I can get for the family room. I have been looking at the Panasonic TH-65PHD7UY plasma. I know that this is a "no frills" unit but I currently have an Onkyo TX-DS787 6.1 channel receiver that should handle everything that is "missing" from the TH-65PHD7UY. I should only need to connect to the plasma unit using an s-video connection.

I's appreciate any comments.

Thanks
Ned

Ned,

If your requirements are "biggest and baddest" then take a look at projector/ screen combinations. Also, s-video is not your "baddest" video signal. You'll want to investigate HDTV, and s-video wont deliver.

While constructing this new home, I recommend bringing in a custom installer to make some additional recommendations. It is far less expensive to run wire now. You can find an installer using the c|net database.

Are planning to watch DVDs using a S-Video connection????
If so you are throwing away over 50% of the picture quality of the DVD. Think componet!! John
