General discussion

Should be an easy one

Heres the problem, a couple weeks ago my WMP 10 decided to stop playing streaming video, but still played saved videos off the the HD just fine. So I tried reinstalling WMP 10 and then it was unable to download the codec for the video I had saved on the HD, and still green screened me or didn't play any streaming video. After messing around with rolling back, reinstalling, and trying codec packs; I now have streaming video again, but no sound on either. I currently have WMP 9 loaded and I tried a program called "Sherlock" which is telling me I am missing the "wmplug" and "WMAPro over S/PDIF DMO" audio codecs. When I had 10 installed it just told me I was missing wmplug. I've searched all over just trying to find a file to download to fix this wmplug issue which I think is the root of the problem. Any ideas? I am reluctant to upgrade to 10 again seeing it did the same thing then and had no video. At least I am back to video now. Thanks alot

that audio works fine on everything else I use. Winamp, Quicktime, etc. Only in WMP am I having a sound problem. If only every website would stream in QT format I would have to deal with this MSFT crap.

I've never found fixing WMP "easy." But want you to know that if I type... WMP MINI FAQ into google.com I find the FAQ that helps me.
