Since it's a digital link the flare should be in the display and not the card. You did write dvi-d which should be all digital.

I've encountered cards that are DVI and for odd reasons the result was analog. But if you really have a DVD-D then no, the card is not the cause.

i have an nvidia 7200/7300. old but it has a dvi-d.
i just bought an almost magnificent dell 27" monitor that i must return because at the middle it starts to flare and becomes obvious at 1/3 > the edge. it flares and turns cool. i am returning the monitor for replacement.
my question is pro active....is it possible that my card is not good enough and i need to upgrade to maybe the 8series of nvidia? i mean everything works fine except the problem itself ...just wondering if a better card resolves the problem
