Shortcuts keep disappearing etx.

Feb 8, 2005 10:58AM PST

Two bizarre problems with Outlook 2003: every couple of days, my shortcuts (the old "favorites" option) and their group headings disappear, never to return. The program defaults to two shortcuts: Outlook today; and Microsoft Office Online. How to correct? I am using Mozilla Firefox; did not change any preferences and this never happened with IE; also use Zonealarm, AVG antivirus, and the new Beta MS spyware program (this problem existed before I downloaded MS antispyware). Second problem: outlook address book will show email addresses I put in Contacts, but does not alphabetize them! What to do? Thanks, Laura

re-sort Address Book in Outlook 2003
Feb 23, 2005 4:22AM PST

To re-sort Address Book in Outlook 2003...

1. Start Outlook.

2. On the Tools menu, click "E-mail accounts".

3. Click "View or change existing directories or address books", and then
click Next.

4. Click "Outlook Address Book", and then click "Change".

5. Under Outlook Address Books, click the address book for which you want
to change the contact display format . For example, click Contacts:
Personal Folders or Contacts: Mailbox ? Mailbox name, and then click "File
As (Smith, John)".

6. Click "Close", and then click "Finish".

7. YOU MUST QUIT and then Restart Outlook for change to take effect.

Outlook 2003 shortcuts disappear
Mar 9, 2005 2:44AM PST

I had this problem today. Turns out the group name I used was "Project/ITSR". Seems that the forward slash causes confusion since it's also part of an XML tag. (The shortcut config is stored in outlook.xml.) As long as I don't use a forward slash in a group name, all shortcuts stick.

Dear laurab,
I actually don't use slashes...just group names, and shortcut names...and they still disappear! Any ideas??
Thanx,

I am also experiencing the same problem with the disappearing shortcuts. I am not using anything but alpha charecters in my names.
