Shortcut help

by corzy75 / May 17, 2009 1:49 AM PDT

Is there a way to remove the text that says "Shortcut" under the icons of programs I download? I just downloaded an MP3 tag program and the desktop icon it created says "Shortcut" after it's listed name. I tried right clicking and renaming, but that didn't work. Tried the registry edit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

setting value to 00 00 00 00 in Link, then rebooted

Nothing has removed the word shortcut

Is there a program that will do it?

Any help will be appreciated.

That didn't work?

What happened when you right clicked, select Rename, and changed the name?

"That didn't work" doesn't tell us much.

Is this a shortcut icon? If you right click, select Properties, does the Properties window have a shortcut tab?

In that Properties window can you change the name under the General tab? If not, what happens when you try?

corzy75, Go to the link below and scroll down to line 209 (left column) and click on or right click and use Save Target As "Remove "Shortcut to..." Prefix on Shortcuts" to download a .reg file. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. It should correct your problem.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
