Shortcut Associations

Suddenly all of my shortcuts on my desktop AND other places stopped associating with the installed programs. When I click the shortcut it will bring up a window 'please select the program to which you want to open this file' or something like that. I have to browse to the specific folder in c:/program files and find the .exe file. What did I do wrong? How do I fix this the easy way (other than having to trace each and every shortcut.
Thanks so much in advance!

This sounds like a virus, soem simple steps you can do to make sure the fiel associations are correct...

Open My Computer
Go to "Tools"
Go to "Folder Options"
Click "File Types"]
Make sure they are accociated to the correct programs.

Also, try downloading Advanced System Care. It has a shortcut fixer utility and its FREE!
